  • Demonstrate that suitable arrangements have been made for their travel, reception and care in the UK
  • Have a parent or guardian in the home country or the country where they normally live who is responsible for their care. They must confirm they consent to the arrangements for the applicant’s travel, reception and care in the UK
  • If not applying or travelling with a parent or guardian then that parent or guardian must confirm that they consent to the arrangements for the travel to, and reception and care in the UK.

What supporting documents will you need for a Child Visit visa application:

This section provides guidance on the types of documents that you may want to provide to succeed in your application to the Entry Clearance Officer:

  • Your current valid passport or travel document
  • Financial documents showing that you have sufficient funds available
  • Where a third party (who is either in the UK or who will be legally in the UK at the time of your visit) is providing financial support to you e.g. a business, a friend or a relative, documents to show they have sufficient resources to support you
  • Details of employment or studies
  • Birth Certificate or legal document (such as adoption papers) showing the relationship between you and your parent or guardian
  • If travelling unaccompanied or with someone other than your parent or guardian then a legal letter of consent

How long the UK Child Visit visa is valid for:

A standard child visit visa is valid for 6 months.  However, if you need to visit the UK regularly over a longer period, you can apply for a long-term visit visa that lasts 2, 5 or 10 years. You can stay in the UK for up to 6 months during each visit, although you must ensure you are not habitually resident in the UK through frequent and successive visits. If you are under 18 years old when you apply, your long-term Standard Visitor visa will only be valid for up to 6 months after you turn 18.
