The sportsperson visa (T2) category is for elite sports players and coaches who are internationally established at the highest level, whose employment will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport at the highest level in the UK and who intend to base themselves in the UK.

UK sportsperson visa (T2): eligibility requirements:
To qualify for sportsperson visa (T2) visa, you must:
- have a valid certificate of sponsorship for your job
- prove your knowledge of English at least CEFR level A1 in speaking and listening
- have personal savings so you can support yourself when you arrive in the UK
- show you can travel and your travel history over the last 5 years
- have tuberculosis test results if you’re from a listed country
UK sportsperson visa (T2): Financial Requirement:
- If you are applying for permission to stay and have been living in the UK with permission for 12 months or longer on the date of application, you will meet the financial requirement and do not need to show funds
- If you are applying for entry clearance, or have been living in the UK for less than 12 months, either:
- you must have funds of at least £1,270 for a 28- day period; or
- your A rated sponsor must confirm on the Certificate of Sponsorship that they will, if it is necessary, maintain and accommodate you
How long UK sportsperson visa (T2) is valid for:
If you are applying for entry clearance, permission will be granted for 3 years and 1 month or up to 14 days after the period of employment stated on their Certificate of, whichever is the shorter.
What happens if your UK sportsperson visa (T2) application is refused:
Should you fail to meet the requirements, it is likely that any future applications for temporary migration (such as a visit visa) will be subjected to greater scrutiny.
